Become a volunteer

Come join us!

NOW we are allowed to do Aarhus Pride again – and we are as excited as kids for summebreak! We really want to celebrate all of those who work for the LGBRQIA+ Community in Aarhus, Denmark and the world. And you need to join us!

The nice bits about volunteering at Aarhus Pride is the “hygge”, the chance to meet new people, the atmosphere, celebrating other – and your self, be a part of something, the party – and all the joyful guests. Anybody can volunteer – even if you do not identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Any allies are welcome!

The work is worth the joy; the working hours in the descriptions below are guiding; you can sign up for one, two, three … or ten tasks. We need ALL the help we can get!
We will do, what is in our power for you to have an influence on what job(s) you will be doing.

During the day we will provide you with a meal and snacks at the VolunteerLounge, where you can spend your breaks and meet the other volunteers.

If you would like to volunteer register here
(The registration form is in Danish, but should be quite simple to figure. Any doubts at all send and email to madsharley@aarhuspride.dk)

Jobs to do

Photography and Social Media:
Are you a photographer (pro or amateur) or a social media shark – and know a little about GDPR-compliance (EU General Data Protection Regulation) you should write our SoMe-manager directly at emilie@aarhuspride.dk
Everybody can use #aarhuspride to spread the love.

Depot team Friday morning + Saturday evening (Lagerhold fredag morgen / Lagerhold lørdag aften)
We need 4-6 people, who can lift heavy things from our depot to a lorry, and from the lorry on to the site in the morning. In the evening everything goes back – in reverse order.
The morning team and the evening team are not necessarily the same people. Both teams will spend a couple of hours on the job.

We need people
– Friday (the day before Pride!) at 9.00 am
– Saturday (Prideday) at 7.00 pm.

Production set up / pull down (Produktion opstilling / Produktion nedtagning)
Setup in the morning / Pull down in the evening.
Tents, benches, fences, decorations, tables and so on. The job is on site (Pier 3, Aarhus Habour). Set up from about 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and pull down from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The morning team and the evening team are not necessarily the same people.

Stage (Scene)
Heavy work for two people who are not afraid of heights. The job is on site both morning and evening. Set up 8 a.m. and pull down at 6 p.m.

Join the team “Produktion” (see above) in the questionaire and and let us know if you have experience in setting up stages.

Pride Guard (Paradevagt)
We need A LOT of Pride Guards! The job is to walk in front of, next to and behind the parade, and make sure everybody gets to the PrideLounge in one piece. You will also make sure that the parade doesn’t break apart on the tour through town.
Pride Guards meet at Bispetorv at 10.00 am. The shift is normally about 3-4 hours.
This year, due to the new PrideLounge site, PrideGuards are likely to also be guiding guests from Bispetorv to Pier 3 at the harbour.

(Police and paramedics will be following the parade as well.)

Runners / Sweepers
Runners are the connection between PrideLounge and the parade. It’s best to have a bicycle – or be able to run very fast!
Sweepers make sure that Bispetorv (Parade starting site) is nice and clean after the parade has left the site.

PrideShop
At PrideLounge we have a little shop open all day, and we need helpful and serviceminded from 11.0o am to 7.00 pm. -incl. set-up and pull-down.
It would be really awesome, if you are available all day – of course with breaks! – but if can only spare a couple of hours or three, let us know in the questionnaire.

Children’s Corner (Børnehjørnet)
Here we need creative people to make the kids feel welcome at Aarhus Pride. We need people to do face paint (animals and such), help make a drawing, laughs and giggles or whatever you’d like to bring to the table.
Real cozy corner at Pride Lounge with happy kids.
The volunteers at BørneHjørnet are at it from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm – incl. set-up and pull-down.
It would be really awesome, if you are available all day – of course with breaks! – but if can only spare a couple of hours or three, let us know in the questionnaire.

The Children’s Corner is not a day-care, but an activity for families with kids. You do not have responsibility for the children.

LoungeService
LoungeService makes sure that PrideLounge is clean and tidy and toilets are ok and so on. This is the task where you get to walk around the site, see everything and talk go all the guests. Consequently you are also Aarhus Pride’s eyes and ears at PrideLounge and can help make sure everyone is having a good time.
LoungeService works from 11.00 am to 7.00.
It would be really awesome, if you are available all day – of course with breaks! – but if can only spare a couple of hours or three, let us know in the questionnaire.

If you and your friends want to be on the same team, let us know in the comment section at the end of the questionnaire.

Bartenders: Gbar’s LoungeBar (Limited number of positions.)
The bar is an all day long, hard, but definitely fun job. You do not need to be an experienced bartender, but you should be able to carry a case of beer more than once, and have some knowledge of Danish.
If you are under 18 of age we cannot offer you a spot in the bar.
The bar-team meets at 10.00 am and works until approximately 7.00 pm – including set-up, cleaning and pull-down

The busiest time is between 1. p.m. and 4 p.m. Of course you are able to take breaks and enjoy Aarhus Pride yourself.
